JON BRANTINGHAM
CEO/OWNER
Jon Brantingham has been CEO and Owner of the BMF Group since 1994. Jon spent most of his childhood in Taiwan, where he learned to speak Chinese. After college he returned to Taiwan to work for his fathers company before starting Brantingham Manufacturing in 1994. Jon began taking exploratory trips into China in 1986 before moving to Shanghai in 2001 with his family. During Jon’s 20 years in Shanghai he has served on the boards of Concordia International School, Community Center Shanghai, CWEF, Global Leadership Summit, AGIF, and Home Sweet Home. Under Jon’s leadership, BMF has developed into a global company with offices and manufacturing facilities around the world. Jon is married to Judy and they are blessed with 5 kids.
OUR STORY
THE BEGINNING
1963
Brantingham Family moved to Taiwan.
1979
Brantingham and Associates (BofA) was established by Jon’s father as a consulting company providing project and quality management services.
1984
After graduating from Ohio University Jon joined BofA as a project and quality manager.
1986
As China began to open its doors Jon started traveling regularly into China to establish relationships with manufacturers.
ESTABLISHING BMF
1994
Brantingham Manufacturing (BMF) was established in Hong Kong as a contract manufacturer of Industrial Hardware products.
1995
BMF Taipei Branch office was established to provide sourcing, quality control, and product development support for manufacturers in Taiwan.
1996
BMF Shanghai Representative Office was established to provide sourcing, quality control, and product development support for manufacturers in China.
2010
Brantingham Manufacturing Shanghai (Trading Company) was established to provide full import and export capabilities from factories throughout China.
2012
Brantingham International (BI) was established as a platform to expand into new global markets.
2014
BMF Hydraulics was established in Virginia USA as a manufacturer and distributor of Hydraulic Cylinders for the scrap and waste industries.
ESTABLISHING FACTORIES
As privatization began to develop in China in the late 90’s BMF saw an opportunity to set up its own factories. Establishing our own factories enabled us to control quality, maintain confidentiality, and provide the most competitive pricing.
1996
BMF Suzhou You Yang was established as a machining, assembly, and testing factory for natural gas distribution products.
2000
BMF Suzhou You Lin was established as a ductile and grey iron foundry.
2002
BMF Yantai You Lin was established as a machine shop of slip on fittings and safety products.
2012
BMF Taipei Foundry (CH) was established as a bronze and aluminum foundry, machine shop, and assembly facility for the electric utility products.
NEW VENTURES
2018
BMF New Zealand was established in Wellington New Zealand as a distributor of Kee Safety and BMF Hydraulics products.
2018
BMF Africa was established in Durban South Africa as an importer and seller of commodities (PET & Caustic Soda), preforms, Hydraulic cylinders, and recycled materials.
2020
BMF Zimbabwe was established in Harare Zimbabwe as a distribution center for commodities (Pet & Caustic Soda) and preforms.
2022
BMF Europe began with the hiring of Jan to explore the capabilities of our hydraulics division globally.
BUSINESS WITH PURPOSE
1994
Lighthouse Prison Ministry - BMF has been a key supporter of Lighthouse since its founding. Lighthouse provides counseling and other services to foreign inmates at Taipei Prison. BMF Taipei office sponsors an annual Christmas party to bring inmates some Christmas cheer.
2002 - 2021
Community Center Shanghai - BMF is an active supporter of CSS and Jon has served on the board since 2002. CCS provides services to the International community which include counseling, classes, and charitable outreach events.
2020
BMF Foundation - was established in Hong Kong as the charity arm of the BMF Group. The Foundation focuses on education and medical needs around the world.
2021
Newlands Retreat Center Foundation - was established in Harare Zimbabwe as a non profit. Newlands manages a Christian retreat center in Harare as well as funding education and medical programs throughout Zimbabwe.
